StyleFeeder Series A

While Amazon and eBay may dominate shopping in most of the Web universe, things are still up for grabs on planet Facebook. There, the leading shopping application is from a 2-year-old Cambridge, MA, startup called StyleFeeder. 500k people have made StyleFeeder’s shopping app part of their Facebook profiles—which is 50x as large as the Facebook user base claimed by the nearest competitor, eBay. The personal shopping engine at StyleFeeder’s own website boasts a similar number of users, raising $2m in Series A financing.

Better Debates

Questions would be posed by candidates to each other, as well as by journalists and the public. But an answer would not be the end of that round; in fact, it would only be the beginning. Rebuttals and further rejoinders would be the meat of these conversations. They would not be done on the fly, but would come after the candidates and their staffs had some time to consider their responses. They’d point out flaws and inaccuracies in their opponents’ statements, drilling down into details where warranted. Wherever possible, people would use the Internet’s elemental unit — the hyperlink — to point to source material or other supporting information.

Rhizome Creative Commons

Rhizome is proud to announce its integration of Creative Commons licenses into its online archive of art, the Artbase. As of today, artists have the option to license their work under Creative Commons Licenses. This suite of licenses allows creators to shift the terms of copyright from “All Rights Reserved” to “Some Rights Reserved,” therefore enabling authors, scientists, educators and artists, amongst others, to mark their creative works with the cultural freedoms they abide by. Rhizome’s hope is that through the use of these licenses, artists will have greater access to each others’ work in furtherance of their goals.
