A PR firm wrote us a letter to win our business. It was signed by their Director of Business Development. The letter detailed the awards they’ve won, the placements they’ve achieved for their clients, and the number of clients they’ve had that have been acquired or gone public. It sounds impressive, but it all started with “Dear .” Whoops!

Santa Clara County has stopped selling GIS data, citing concerns the information could end up in the hands of terrorists. But the plaintiffs in a lawsuit over the high costs of that data claim the security concerns are nothing more than a convenient cover.

The reason why I canceled my Basecamp account is that I’ve lost faith in 37 Signals. I’m not sure if it’s arrogance from the growth and success of their company, but their glow has fizzled. I’m still a fan of some of the simple functionality of their applications… but the applications as a whole don’t seem to be changing the landscape as they had done in the past.
heh. i actually like 37signals stirring the pot. they are overblown, but the sheeple need more kicks in the groin.
Because an ordinance intended to keep predators away from children made it nearly impossible for them to find housing, 5 convicted sex offenders are living under a noisy highway bridge with the state’s grudging approval.

the FBI has sent out an “informational bulletin” about the possibility that terrorists might try to become school bus drivers. The FBI notes that they have no reason to believe that this is actually happening, though — it’s just something someone there thought of.
WILL SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN meets TERRORISM
much of our country’s counterterrorism security spending is not designed to protect us from the terrorists, but instead to protect our public officials from criticism when another attack occurs.
