So, take it from well-informed sources that Sondre Lerche will be big. One of his songs played at the sushi place last night, which was most amazing. and, he is only 21. Go Sondre!!

Steb Sly and John Weir
Steb Sly emailed me yesterday and alerted me to some of his tracks. I especially like his live set (40min). Meanwhile, my friend John Weir was spinning in San Francisco yesterday, and I hope the recording will be online soon.
Transcendental Love Machine
TLM were always consistent in their forward-thinking musical endeavors, this often led them to be critically heralded along side Underworld, Leftfield, Orbital et al, although sadly without the huge marketing budgets that put these mega acts on the billboards of the world via major marketing spend.
Inside my soul is burning for you is just playing on my headphones. Great stuff.

Over the Rhine
Drew recently put Sooz and me on the guest list of Over the Rhine when they came to town. I enjoyed the concert, not having known the band before. As I remarked to some friends here, I am more on the electronica side and not very fond of guitar music. Over the rhine is a band that definitely helps to reduce my bias 🙂 For the curious, they have quite some mp3 online.

Witty kookiness

I went to see Rose Polenzani last night in the company of Sooz and Susan (mit.edu webmistress). I was quite mesmerized by her songs. I definitely have a knack for people with wit who exude kookiness.
the llama
To ride on a
black winged Llama over desert
in the chill of night
wasn’t my idea.
stirrup me.
Now that I’m here I’ve got nothing to lose
for the record.
tomorrow
tomorrow
tomorrow
tomorrow
A blue land
and besides that everything in sight
has lost its color.
And if it was
hiding beneath the surface
of this great scape,
I would still want to wait.
tomorrow
tomorrow
tomorrow
tomorrow
I want to be brave
and believe that this fierce flapping creature
is heaving in good faith.
Holding on
but there’s no part of him that doesn’t
disappear
under my hands…
Carry me away,
but CARRY ME!
Carry me away,
but CARRY ME!
CARRY ME!
CARRY ME!
Gollum’s song
Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no moreDon’t say – goodbye
Don’t say – I didn’t try…
These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies
You told us
The hurt, the blame!
And we will weep
To be so alone
We are lost!
We can never go home
So in the end
I will be – what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me
Now we say – goodbye
We say – you didn’t try…
These tears you cry
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame!
And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost!
You can never go home
