Playa pictures

Are here. I hope we can fix the ugly g8.html URL soon. And yeah, I like the playa 🙂 Need to take more shots with people too. It’s quite hard to take pictures when recharging opportunities are rare. The official gallery is still quite empty too.

Airport

i couldn’t resist and bought the monzoon package for ZRH airport. off to SFO in 30 min. should be a blast.

the thinkpad x31 is slightly bigger than the old vaio i had in 1998-1999

it’s still very small and versatile though 🙂 and who needs a cdrom these days, i certainly don’t. give me wifi every day.

Evil markup

i just finished a conversion of a MT blog to KAYWA. Most of the posts were stored in some non-xhtml markup (yes i’m talking about you, textile) which made the task really really tedious. while i can appreciate alternative markup for data entry purposes (think wikis), i have, after this experience especially, no patience for storing markup that is not in the normal form, read, in either XHTML or another widely used XML format.
as bill de hora points out, the advantages of syntax (and increasingly, content) virtual machines are just too great. And the case for non-standard markup gets weaker every day. If there ever was one.

withdrawal

having read about some of the detrimental aspects of caffeine, i decided to end my consumption for the time being. sure enough, i had a headache the next day.
