Address Hacking

hack used by Russian netizens to trick e-commerce stores into delivering US/Canada-only merchandise to them in Russia: So what was possible to do is to put totally Russian address in the order delivery form, like: Moscow, Lenin St. 20, Russia in the address fields, usually there is a plenty of space to enter long things like this, and in the field country they put Canada in the field ZIP code – Canadian zip code. What happens next? The parcel travels to Canada, to the area to which the specified ZIP code belongs and there postal workers just see it’s not a Canadian address but Russian. They consider it to be some sort of mistake and forward it further, to Russia.

i guess the post office now routes around problems too?

Laws Of Roombotics

A top-of-the-line, third-generation Roomba Scheduler robotic floor-cleaning vacuum purchased in January by 35-year-old claims adjuster Ken Graney has inexplicably broken all 3 laws of Roombotics, a simple yet vital protocol programmed into every Roomba by its manufacturer, iRobot.

“The vacuum cleaner is out of control,” Graney said about the malfunctioning model 4260, which he suspects of behaving in a “blatantly unethical” way that perverts its original mission. “I’m afraid to be in my own house. The constant, ceaseless cleaning.”The laws of Roombotics, published on iRobot’s Web site, are basic ethical rules governing Roomba conduct. The first law states that the device “must not suck up jewelry or other valuables, or through inaction, allow valuables to be sucked up.” The second law prescribes that Roomba “must obey vacuuming orders given to it by humans except when such orders would conflict with the first law.” The third and final law authorizes a Roomba to “protect its own ability to suction dust and debris as long as such protection does not conflict with the first or second law.”

McCain Pranked

McCain’s staff used his template, but didn’t give Davidson credit. Worse, they use images that are on his server, meaning he has to pay for the bandwidth used from page views on McCain’s site. Davidson decided to play a small prank on the campaign this morning as retribution. Since he’s in control of some of the images on the site, he replaced one that shows contact information with a statement: Today I announce that I have reversed my position and come out in full support of gay marriage…particularly marriage between 2 passionate females.

heh. such an easy target.
