took the unprecedented step of buying some groceries. no water jugs though, dignity doesn’t allow it.

Taqueria PSA

no fajitas.
no nachos.
no cute clay or adobe plates to match the cute clay or adobe decor.
crema fresca… not sour cream.
no strawberry-kiwi margaritas.
no fajitas.
no fancy menus with a history lesson on mexico.
no 7 layer dips.
no pillow-size burritos.
no tacky red, white, and green uniforms with a red sash around the waist.

did we mention no fajitas?

How does Bob Dylan taste? Like aged beef, soy and seaweed. “The beef represents Dylan’s leathery exterior — the man is 70, after all — and the seaweed and soy provide heavy notes that pair well with his raspy voice”.

Miracle Fruit

CARRIE DASHOW dropped a large dollop of lemon sorbet into a glass of Guinness, stirred, drank and proclaimed that it tasted like a “chocolate shake.” Nearby, Yuka Yoneda tilted her head back as her boyfriend, Albert Yuen, drizzled Tabasco sauce onto her tongue. She swallowed and considered the flavor: “Doughnut glaze, hot doughnut glaze!” They were among 40 or so people who were tasting under the influence of a small red berry called miracle fruit at a rooftop party. The berry rewires the way the palate perceives sour flavors for 1 hour or so, rendering lemons as sweet as candy.
