Food Cinemagraphs
applying shitty vintage filters on your food pictures means you’re an amateur. this is how the pros do it.

Finally found a good supplier for Onigiri in NYC: Cafe Zaiya
Eating at the bar is the best
I don’t get why eating at the bar is considered a last resort. It has many benefits: there’s usually no wait, no wobbly tables, more comfortable for tall people, service is excellent and you can talk to your dining companion more easily in a loud space. Plus there’s usually something interesting going on behind the bar.
London Urban Farm
Located extremely close to Central London, the farm can get its crops onto restaurant plates within 4 hours of being harvested, which is both a boost to freshness and a fuel saver
Jackson Heights Food Tour
Whether you’re just visiting New York or you’ve lived here all your life, chances are you haven’t spent enough time exploring Jackson Heights, Queens. Take it from someone who lives there—truly knowing this immigrant-dominated neighborhood, where Colombians and Mexicans rub shoulders with Tibetans and Thai—is an impossible task. It’s the New York dream writ small: astonishingly diverse, always changing, and endlessly interesting. Few other places on earth are as culturally rich and complex, and even fewer are dense enough to walk through in an afternoon.
That’s enough of a reason to learn more about Jackson Heights. Then there’s the food—dumpling shops hidden in cell phone stores, tacos and tortas cooked on every block, late night ceviche hawkers under the rumbling 7 train. Step off the subway and the air itself tastes good: grilled lamb and the perfume of 100 curries.
Gene-free tomatoes
the strongest correlation is with lack of intelligence.
I was curious about opinions about GMO in the General Social Survey. I found the variable TOMATOES. It states: “Ordinary tomatoes do not contain genes, while genetically modified tomatoes do. (Is that true or false?)” The correct answer is obviously false. But I was curious what proportion of the population would answer “true.”
Food Woo
We need another Enlightenment to overcome all this superstitious nonsense.
Vani Hari, a.k.a. the Food Babe, has amassed a loyal following. Hari implores her soldiers to petition food companies to change their formulas. She’s also written a bestselling book telling you that you can change your life in 21 days by “breaking free of the hidden toxins in your life.” She and her army are out to change the world.
She’s also utterly full of shit.
Artisanal Junk Food
this is perfect.
Not yet Peak Kale
Kale is unfortunately still going strong. there’s a new boss:
lollipop kale, a cross between Russian red kale leaves and Brussels sprouts
