Google Bookmarking

Like most people I want Google to add a social aspect to “Google Bookmarks”. The crazy part is they already have a disassembled version of a social bookmarks network. The parts are: Bookmarks, Reader, Notebook & Shared Stuff.

He Wrote 200K Books

Mr. Parker has generated more than 200K books, as an advanced search on Amazon.com under his publishing company shows, making him, in his own words, “the most published author in the history of the planet.” And he makes money doing it. Among the books published under his name are “The Official Patient’s Sourcebook on Acne Rosacea” ($24.95 and 168 pages long); “Stickler Syndrome: A Bibliography and Dictionary for Physicians, Patients and Genome Researchers” ($28.95 for 126 pages); and “The 2007-2012 Outlook for Tufted Washable Scatter Rugs, Bathmats and Sets in India” ($495 for 144 pages).

i am REALLY curious if any of those are readable. speaking of, i have started against the day by thomas pynchon.

Spam Mail Business Cycle

There is an upside to the credit crunch: Less mail. Mortgage and home equity direct mail down. Credit card direct mail declines continue into 2008. And this is with a mere recession. Imagine how peaceful it would be if we ever had an outright depression. You could go back to checking your mailbox again.

wouldn’t it be nice if junk mail companies received a mortal blow?

FlashBridge

That’s right, Flash is invoking the function calls, but they’re executing in the browser. Now switch these around — put the first block in the applet, and the second block in the browser JavaScript — and it still runs the same way, except that it’s the browser that invokes the functions, and they run in the applet

Roof Bars

Manhattan’s rooftop bar season unofficially kicked off, with more than 25 high-altitude places in the city where the air is fresh, the views are (often) stunning, and the drinks are (almost always) served in lightweight plastic, presumably to save pedestrians far below from potential injury, if not cranberry juice stains.

Somali Pirates

map of pirate and hijacking activity off the Somali coast from January to December 2007
2008-11-19:

TO BOARD the Sirius Star, one of the world’s largest oil tankers, Somali pirates had to haul themselves up ropes tied to grapnel hooks the height of London’s Big Ben, with the 330m ship pitching all the while in the tropical swell. Then there was the location, way out in the high seas, 800km off the coast of Kenya. The feat of vertiginous thuggery will be taken everywhere as proof of what is possible; it was the biggest ever catch by any pirate, anywhere in the world.

arr! how about a pirates of the comoros. starring johnny depp?
