SkypeFind is one of the most interesting features that we’ve done in quite a while now. We call it “Local businesses you like”, and that’s what it is – a collection of businesses, with reviews and comments, built by everyone using Skype.

Google makes wonderful stuff; just think how much more wonderful their products could be if someone was seriously competing with them.
The truth is, scaling from $5-$50M is not the toughest part of a new venture – it’s getting your users to pay you anything at all. The biggest gap in any venture is that between a service that is free and one that costs a penny. I can’t think of a single premium service that has achieved truly viral distribution. Can you?

The Los Angeles Fire Department has has a Flickr account. It has some great photos including a car in a pool along with various on-scene photos. LAFD even geo-tags their photos so they can be seen on a map
